Walk into Royalty With Bed Throws

A beautiful throw blanket may be draped from the back of a lounge chair, laid along the edge of a bed, or tossed elegantly over the arm of a couch to add comfort and warmth to any room. It’s that time of year when you want to feel both comfortable and stylish, so spoil yourself!

Here are seven of my favourite ways to wear a throw this winter:

1. Formal introductory phrase

Fold your throw lengthwise into thirds and drape it over the back of the sofa, either in the centre or off-centre, depending on the style you desire. This sleek and sophisticated look demands accuracy, so make sure your folds are even and that you tuck the throw beneath the sofa cushion to keep it safe. Don't overcrowd your couch with pillows if you want this appearance to keep clean and stylish.

2. Maintain a Low Profile

Another version of the aforementioned Prim + Proper appearance, but less formal — you can make this style more informal by folding your throw lengthwise into thirds, then halving it in the other manner. This shorter package may then be draped over the sofa's arm or over the couch seat cushion, with any tassels or fringing pointing down. Make the toss even more casual by bunching it up or spreading it out a little unevenly.

3. Basket Container

This is by far the greatest solution for those who are short on time – simply put a colourful basket next to your sofa or bed and toss the throw inside...easy peasy! With the majority of the throw packed in the basket, just take out one of the corners and let it dangle over the side. You may even draw it out more so that it hangs gently on the floor.

4. Flawless Imperfections

This relaxed, friendly, and warm drape complements the majority of houses and interior design types. However, just like the dishevelled bed-head style, its easy appearance takes a bit longer to create than you may imagine.

One method is to pinch the throw in the centre and pull it over one of the couch's rear corners. Another option is to fold the throw loosely in half lengthwise (or not at all) and drape it over a corner. Allow some fabric to spill over the front of the sofa and even graze the floor, whichever technique you select.

Take a step back and assess whether you need to pat, collect, tug, or stretch out the toss in any areas. Don't worry if you still can't get it perfect after all your modifications; any issue spots can definitely be hidden with some creative cushion positioning.

5. Footsies

A neatly wrapped throw may be used to decorate the foot of a daybed or a sofa with a chaise. Fold the throw into halves lengthwise, then drop and drape diagonally over the corner. This simple solution needs minimal work and adds visual appeal to what would otherwise be a void.
